Are you dreaming of a perfect smile? Veneers, also known as teeth capping, could be the answer. At Balham Dental Studio, we can create a stunning, natural-looking smile with porcelain veneers.

A thin tooth-coloured shell is placed on the front of a tooth or teeth to improve the appearance of discoloured, irregularly shaped, or damaged teeth. They are usually fitted to the front upper and lower teeth, and made from ceramic, porcelain, or a composite material. Veneers offer a minimally invasive way to transform a tooth as only a very thin layer of enamel is removed (if any) prior to fitting.

What are the benefits of dental veneers?

  • Veneers can significantly enhance the appearance of your smile by covering up imperfections such as chips, cracks, discoloration, or gaps.
  • A beautiful smile can boost your self-esteem and confidence.
  • Veneers are made from durable materials, such as porcelain or composite, that can last for many years with proper care.
  • Veneers are less susceptible to staining compared to natural teeth (and composite bonding), making them a great option for those who enjoy coffee, tea, or red wine.
  • Veneers generally require minimal tooth preparation, preserving more of your natural tooth structure.
  • Modern veneer technology allows for a highly natural-looking result that blends seamlessly with your surrounding teeth.

Sometimes, we’ll take a mould of your teeth to create models. These help us design your new veneers and show you how lovely your smile could look.

Once you’re happy with the plan, we’ll gently prepare your teeth by removing a very thin layer from the front. We’ll then take a scan or another mould to send to our skilled lab, which will craft your custom veneers. While they’re being made, we’ll give you temporary veneers to protect your teeth.

Caring for your new smile with veneers is easy!

Once your lovely veneers are in place, just keep up your regular brushing and flossing routine, just like you would with your natural teeth. We’ll give you some helpful tips to make sure your dental hygiene stays top-notch and to keep an eye on your teeth and gums.

While veneers are strong, a little care goes a long way. Try to avoid habits like biting your nails or chewing on pens, and it’s best not to use your veneers to open things. Also, be mindful of very hard foods that could potentially chip or damage them.

Think of veneers as a wonderful way to quickly and effectively achieve that bright, perfect smile you’ve been wanting. Whether it’s a small touch-up or a complete smile makeover, veneers offer a lasting, natural-looking solution that can really boost your confidence and give you a reason to smile wide!

When done properly, veneers look incredibly natural! We carefully select the shade and shape to match your existing teeth and create a seamless blend. Modern porcelain and composite materials mimic the light-reflecting properties of natural teeth, so they’ll look bright and lifelike.

Most patients find the veneer placement process to be quite comfortable. We usually apply a local anaesthetic to numb the area, so you won’t feel any pain during the procedure. There might be some mild sensitivity afterwards, but this usually subsides quickly.

Veneers are an investment in your smile, and the cost can vary depending on the material used and the number of veneers you need. While they might be more expensive than other cosmetic options like composite bonding, they offer excellent durability and a natural appearance. We can discuss the cost and payment options during your consultation.

Yes! Veneers are excellent for masking a range of imperfections, including severe discolouration, chips, cracks, and gaps. They can dramatically improve the appearance of damaged or misshapen teeth, giving you a beautiful, uniform smile.
